My computer tried to do an update. I didn't want it to, because I was in the midst of three papers, none with titles and I was too lazy to even save them. Normally, that's not a problem. However, tonight, that must have the straw that broke the camels back (metaphorically speaking, of course) for my computer. It decided to just FREEZE. Not shut down, FREEZE. My sister had lent me some CDs in order to regain my, ever so pathetic, music collection. I was burning her music onto my computer and it froze. Thinking it was the CD, I tried to eject the CD: nothing happen. Hmmm, I thought to myself, this has never occurred before? I began to fidget with different buttons on the computer. As I tried to fidget, other items, such as the internet and the Instant Messaging system, started to freeze. That's not good, I thought to myself, and hurriedly, I tried my best to solidify the situation by saving all of my work.
It wasn't a moment after I saved all of my work that I realized that my computer just decided to shut down. It took a moment, but started back up again. When I typed in my password, I realized that the interface was still the same, and... yep. That was it. ALL of my music - and mind you, pathetic as the collection was, I had almost 3,200 songs on my computer by this point - had disappeared. Now, I'll be honest, I have NO PROBLEMS with assignments getting eaten. Especially if it was the third or fourth draft of a paper, however, I do have a problem with my MUSIC being GONE. I worked at a coffee shop for almost three months, hating every second of my life there, but enjoying stealing their music. I didn't work their anymore. There would be NO WAY to get the music back! I can't have all of that.
Fortunately, I have a kind and loving friend, who is my Mac Genius as he just started to work for the Apple company in Cupertino, CA. As I panicked, I sent him a text message, telling him that my life was now over and my computer had just crashed. When my internet finally turned back on, he couldn't understand my plain English against his English Computer Language. I don't know how I figured it out, but by the grace of God, I was able to get back all of my 3,000 songs. It was amazing.
Anyway, although my story ended well. I have one thing to say to everyone: SAVE YOUR WORK!
